SIZING

Choosing the correct size when buying from the Internet or through a catalog can sometimes be a challenge. We are providing the chart below as a reference to assist in selecting the correct size. To help put these sizes in perspective consider these examples.

We have a young man that works here with us. As a senior in high school, this young man played football on the offensive line. He is 6’ tall and weighed 190 lbs. The XL fit him nicely. The 2XL fit in the chest but was just a little roomy and the sleeves were just a bit to long.

A woman that works here wears a size 6-8 and she is 5’4” tall. She will often wear a sweater under her size medium jacket.

Varsity Jacket Trivia

Durring the 50's and 60's, letterman jackets were almost never purchased before a student had earned a letter. Most schools would award only varsity letters. Where jackets were awarded, it was usually durring a students' junior or senior year. Letterman jackets were occasionally purchased by junior varsity members. Being so, their first letter was carefully placed just above the left pocket, leaving space for a (hopefully) future varsity letter.

In America and Canada a male athlete may have given his girlfriend the letter jacket as a token of his love. This was (and still is) considered a sign of a truly intimate relationship. In the event of a breakup it was customary for the girl to return the jacket as a sign of rejection.
